2 arrested after stolen handgun leads to drugs

STEELE, MO (KFVS) - A juvenile and a Steele man were arrested after police say a stolen handgun led to the discovery of drug paraphernalia.

Officers responded to a call about a juvenile trying to trade a handgun for marijuana on Dec. 22.

Officers found the handgun which had been stolen from a home during recent burglary, according to Steele Police Chief Billy Joe Stanfield.

The juvenile suspect was turned over to Pemiscot County juvenile authorities.

Steele Police searched a home and found more stolen property along with drug paraphernalia and ammunition.

A 49-year-old Steele man was arrested on charges of possession of stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia and a felon in possession of ammunition.

The man's name is withheld pending the filing of formal charges with the Pemiscot County prosecuting attorney. He was taken to the Pemiscot County Jail.
