1 injured in Harrisburg shooting

HARRISBURG, IL (KFVS) - One person was injured in a shooting Sunday night in Harrisburg.

Harrisburg Police Chief Robert Smith says police are looking to question persons of interest, but no arrests have been made.

It happened in the 500 block of North Jackson Street.

Smith says one male victim, 32, was taken to an area hospital, then transferred to another hospital.

While some people in the community say they do want to increase their security systems, others say the shooting doesn't raise concerns about their safety.

"I don't," resident Brian Storms said. "I think it has something to do with a certain person. I kind of keep to myself and we've never had any trouble within the last two and a half years we've been here.”

Storms says although he does not fear for his safety, he was surprised that the shooting happened in his neighborhood.

"It did because it's pretty quiet," Storms said. "You know, I don't really hear much going on around here."

The shooting is still under investigation.
