Massac County arrest active shooter in Brookport

BROOKPORT, IL (KFVS) - According to the Massac County Sheriff's Department, emergency crews investigated an active shooter situation in Brookport, Il on Saturday.

The department reports one person was shot and taken to a nearby hospital with non-threatening injuries.At about 5:15 p.m. the scene was controlled, and a man was taken into custody.

The sheriff's department says the suspect barricaded himself in a home.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reports all lanes of the Brookport bridge were closed because of the incident. 

The bridge was closed at request of the Massac County Sheriff's Department so it could secure the perimeter of where the person is located. 

The bridge reopened around 5:30 p.m.

The man was processed at the Massac County Sheriff's Department and was released. He does not not face any charges.
