Murphysboro police arrested two people suspected to be responsible for at least seven burglaries to cars on Thursday.

Dustin Eagan, 27, and a 14-year-old juvenile were believed to be the ones involved.

Police say they got a call just before 6 p.m. about two suspicious people looking into cars around the 1900 block of Herbert Street.

When officers arrived, the suspects tried to run away.

However, police say they apprehended the 14-year-old after a brief chase.

Around 7 p.m. police got another call about items being stolen from a car in the 2000 block of Herbert Street.

Police say property was stolen from an unlocked car.

At 8:30 officers located Eagan hiding at a home on the west side of Murphysboro.

After further investigation, officers determined the suspects were involved in at least seven burglaries.

The 14-year-old was released to a parent and Eagan is being held in the Jackson County Jail.

Murphysboro Police are asking anyone with unreported motor vehicle burglaries to contact them at 618-684-2121.
