Man accused of assaulting worker with knife at Mexican restaurant

DEXTER, MO (KFVS) -

The Stoddard County sheriff's office says a man is facing assault charges after a fight involving a knife at a Mexican restaurant in Dexter, Missouri.

On Dec. 22, officers responded to El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant on W. Business Highway 60 in Dexter, Missouri in reference to an assault involving a knife

According to the probable cause statement, Pablo Gabriel faces assault first degree charges.

Once on the scene, an officer said he smelled what appeared to be a strong intoxicating odor coming from Gabriel.

A worker told officers stated Gabriel was “belligerent, yelling, and then shutting off all the stoves in the kitchen” as they were trying to prepare food.

According to the report, a worker said Gabriel grabbed a knife attempting to stab a co-worker.

After a struggle, Gabriel threw the knife down and walked out of the business. Workers told officers they followed Gabriel until law enforcement arrived.

The sheriff's office says one worker received a two inch cut to his body.

Gabriel told officers he not did not know what happened, according to the officer's report.

Gabriel was taken to the Dexter Jail.

The officer's report states Gabriel had a blood alcohol level of .207 percent.
