Family safe after overnight Cape Girardeau house fire

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

A family in Cape Girardeau is safe Tuesday morning after an overnight fire in their home.

The Cape Girardeau Fire Department says a smoke alarm woke up the family inside the home on Bride Path Court.

The call can in just before 1 a.m.

The fire broke out in the garage and then spread to the attic.

The house sustained some smoke damage, but no one was reported injured.

No word on what caused the fire.

Cape Girardeau, Jackson, East County, Scott City and eight off duty personnel helped fight the fire and provided mutual aid.

The Cape Girardeau Fire Department estimates the loss to be $350,000.
