Post Offices open Christmas, New Year's Eve

ST. LOUIS (KFVS) -

According to the US Postal Service, post offices in the St Louis Metropolitan Area will open until noon on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

Select Post Offices will be open later in the day on these dates.

Revised hours will be posted at Post Offices. 

Regular mail delivery will be unaffected by the change.

Missouri Post Offices remaining open until 5 p.m. include:

Hazelwood, Ballwin, St Charles South, Arnold, Columbia, South County Postal Store (St Louis), North County, Clayton and the St Louis Main Post Office.

Illinois Post Offices remaining open until 5 p.m. include: 

Effingham, Columbia, Steeleville, Cairo, Eldorado, Marion, Lincoln, Mattoon, Danville, Carbondale, Dutch Hollow, Champaign, Springfield Main Post Office and Quincy.

Other Post Offices will remain open until the times listed below:

  • Cairo – 4 p.m.
  • Eldorado – 4:30 p.m.
  • Mattoon, IL, - 4:30 p.m.
  • Dutch Hollow – 3 p.m.
  • Columbia Mall Store closes at 3 p.m. on Dec. 24 and 5 p.m, on Dec 31.

For commercial customers, Bulk Mail Entry Units holiday hours for Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve are:

St. Louis BME - business as usual. Springfield, IL, and Columbia, MO, until 5 p.m 

All other BME locations close at noon. Customers using blue collection boxes are advised to check with their local post office for pick up times. 

Customers also may call 1-800-ASK-USPS for additional information.

Post Offices will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. 

Only Priority Mail Express will be delivered on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. 

All Post Offices will be open and regular mail delivery will resume Dec. 26 and Jan. 2.

The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
