Paducah woman accused of giving out prescription meds

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

Police say a Paducah woman is accused of giving her prescription medication to another woman.

The other woman overdosed, according to police.

Jennifer Sutton, 42, was arrested on a warrant charging her with third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

The investigation began in October when officers were called to a home on North 34th Street. The semi-conscious woman had in her hand a pill bottle for Clonazepam belonging to Sutton.

Det. John Tolliver, the Paducah Police Department's prescription drug investigator, said he soon learned that Sutton had filled the 30-day supply of Clonezepam just days prior to the other woman's overdose.

Police say the bottle was empty when it was found in the woman's possession.

Tolliver also determined that Sutton had given the woman Clonazepam at least one other time prior to the woman's overdose.

Tolliver presented his findings to a McCracken County grand jury, which returned an indictment charging Sutton with third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

Sutton turned herself in to police on Thursday.

She was arrested and booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
