A Carbondale, Illinois man has been sentenced on gun related charges.
Travis D. Bailey, 30, was sentenced on Dec. 16 for a federal firearm violation according to United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Stephen R. Wigginton.
Bailey had pleaded guilty to a one-count indictment of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon.
He was sentenced to 84 months in prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, and fined $200.
According to the state's attorney, evidence at the plea and sentencing hearings showed on March 7, Carbondale police officers performed a search warrant at Bailey's Carbondale home.
Officers found three pounds of marihuana and a stolen firearm.
At the residence, officers also located additional marihuana, packaged for distribution, along with digital scales, drug packaging materials, and cash.
The state's attorney says Bailey had three prior felony marihuana convictions and was prohibited from having guns.
The investigation was conducted by the Carbondale Police Department. The Jackson County State's Attorney's Office also assisted in the investigation.
