SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

A Benton, Missouri man is accused of child molestation.

Dustin Sauceda, 20, was charged with attempted statutory rape in the first degree by attempting sexual intercourse with another person under 14 years old.

According to Sheriff Rick Walter, on Tuesday, Dec. 9 around 5:43 p.m., an officer received information about Sauceda allegedly having sexual contact with a 13-year-old girl.

Sheriff Walter said a safe exam was done on Monday, Dec. 15. He said that exam, along with information from the investigation indicates that Sauceda had inappropriate sexual contact with the girl on multiple occasions.

It was alleged that on one occasion, Sauceda used force to restrain the victim, and that intervention by a family member stopped the attack.

On Tuesday, Dec. 16 around 12:46 p.m., Sauceda was arrested at a Cape Girardeau hospital where Sheriff Walter said he had just been released.

Sauceda was taken to the Scott County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff Walter said Sauceda was interviewed and confessed to a specific sexual act with the victim.

Sauceda is in the Scott County Jail. His bond was set by the court at $50,000 cash only.
