4 injured in officer-involved crash on Highway 25

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Four people were injured Monday afternoon in a crash on Highway 25 that reportedly involved a Cape Girardeau County deputy.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 2:45 p.m. when 29-year-old Benjamin L. Juergens of Jackson crossed the center line and hit an SUV driven by Angela N. Martinez, 35, of Cape Girardeau head on. 

Captain David James with the Cape Girardeau County Sheriff's Department confirms Juergens is a deputy for the department.

Martinez and her two passengers, a 1-year-old boy and a 9-year-old boy, were moderately injured and taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center. 

Juergens also suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Saint Francis Medical Center.
