$60K will go towards giving abused children a brighter Christmas

CARTERVILLE, IL (KFVS) -
The Poshard Foundation and Pat's Kids will help abused, abandoned and neglected children in southern Illinois have a brighter Christmas this year.
According to the news release, the groups gave about $60,000 to 22 southern Illinois agencies that support families in need.

Toys and stuffed animals were also donated by the Carbondale Dollar Store and the Carbondale Community High School.

Agency leaders say they are beyond grateful for the gifts they can give their children.

"It really helps us reach our mission to help those kids that need it the most," said Tina Carpenter, program director of the Boys and Girls Club of Carbondale. "And for other people to see the extent of what we do, it's just very...it tugs at my heart strings."

“It is heartwarming to know that people in our region care enough about abused children to make sure they have gifts to open on Christmas morning,” said Jo Poshard, director of The Poshard Foundation for Abused Children. “We are grateful to our many generous donors.”

Nearly 1,500 boys and girls in southern Illinois will benefit from the program.
