SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) -

DPS says a man has died after a wreck Sunday morning in Sikeston, Missouri.

The wreck happened around 9:15 p.m.

Sikeston DPS says the man was traveling west on Malone Avenue, near the intersection of New Madrid Street, when he hit the curb and ran off the road.

The truck hit a light pole and flipped several times before landing in American Legion Park.

DPS says witnesses said the truck was traveling west at a high rate of speed on Malone just prior to the crash.

A couple of drivers said they were passed by the vehicle as they approached Kingshighway.

According to DPS, evidence at the scene corroborated witness statements and indicated the vehicle veered off to the right at the Kingshighway intersection.

The truck jumped the curb and ran off the road, northwest of the intersection. It then began rolling and collided with a trash dumpster at the park.

According to Sikeston DPS Captain Jim McMillen, Jason Holt, 37, of Miner, Missouri died after being taken to an area hospital.

DPS says next of kin was notified.

McMillen says the family said the man had a history of seizures. It is unknown whether this may have been a cause of the wreck, but is being looked into as a possible contributing factor.

The crash is still under investigation.
