Heroes on Holiday Patrol to help kids in community to get gifts for Christmas

FREDERICKTOWN, MO (KFVS) -

A southeast Missouri police department is having a fundraiser to help kids this Christmas.

The Fredericktown, Missouri Police Department, Madison County Sheriff's Office., Fredericktown Fire Department, Cherokee Pass Fire Department and the Madison County Ambulance are hosting a dodgeball and human foosball competition and dinner.

It begins Saturday Dec 13 at the Fredericktown Middle school from noon to 5 p.m.

Teams of six players are invited to register for $60 per team. A chicken and dumpling dinner will be served for $7.50 per person.

All funds from this event will go towards Heroes on Holiday Patrol dedicated towards allowing Madison children to be able to shop for Christmas gifts at local stores.

On Tuesday at 10 p.m., firefighters, police officers and emergency personnel will be on hand at the Walmart in Fredericktown.

Each child will choose which Hero they want to shop with.

Eric Hovis, police chief in Fredericktown, says their goal is to reach $5,000 this year.

That would allow 50 kids to have $100 each for Christmas gifts.

If you are unable to attend the fundraiser but still wish to donate, contact police Chief Hovis at 573-576-6984.
