Coroner: 2 killed in 2 separate crashes in Franklin County

FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

A southern Illinois coroner says people have two people have died in two separate crashes on Friday night.

According to the Franklin County Sheriffs Department, the crash happened around 8 p.m. on December 12.

It happened on Route 37 just north of Yellow Banks Road south of Benton, Illinois.

According to Coroner Marty Leffler, 23-year-old Nicholas Lee Doyle of Benton, Illinois, died after a head on collision. 

A female driver involved was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital with a number of injuries.

Leffler says when 42-year-old Forrest R. Hudson of Benton, Illinois drove upon the crash, and it appears he tried to swerve to avoid the crash.

Hudson over-corrected and lost control of his vehicle. His vehicle left the road, and went airborne. Hudson was thrown from the vehicle before it landed on top of him, causing his death.

Doyle was wearing a seat belt, and Hudson was not wearing a seat belt, according to the coroner's office.
