Donations being accepted for family of girl who died in Marion house fire

Donations are being accepted for the family of  a little girl who died after a house fire on Friday night in southern Illinois.

According to the Williamson County Coroner Junior Burke, the 4-year-old Marion, Illinois girl was pronounced dead at 12:25 a.m. on Saturday morning, after being injured in the house fire.

The Marion Fire department says they got a call shortly before 11:10 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12 of a house fire on the 300 block of South Second Street in Marion, Illinois.

The little girl was taken to Heartland Regional Medical center where she later died.

The fire department says there were four people in the home at the time of the fire. 

Heavy smoke and fire was seen as fire crews arrived.

Her mother suffered smoke inhalation, was treated at the hospital and released.

Two firefighters also received minor injuries.

The fire is currently under investigation by Williamson County Coroner Junior Burke, Marion Fire Department, Marion Police Department, Illinois State Police and Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office.

The fire department says the fire is not considered suspicious.

Marion Fire Department was on scene till 5:15 a.m.

Two other homes suffered damage as well.

Neighbors say it's a tragedy that the little girl died in the fire.

The First United Methodist Church in Marion is collecting donations for the family according to Pastor Jeff VanDyke.

VanDyke says the church is accepting donations during its regular office hours or Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. until the end of December.

New clothing is preferred:

  • Boy's clothing: Jeans/Pants (no information), Shirts size 10/12, Shoe size 6-7
  • Women's clothing: Jeans size 0-3, Shirts size small, Shoe size 6 1/2.
  • Men's clothing: Pants/Jeans size 33 waist 30 length, Shirts size large, Shoe size 9.

The pastor says he didn't know the family personally, but is encouraging the community to lift the family up with prayer.

The girl's aunt says Lux Brymer is the 4-year-old who died in fire.

Her funeral services will be Friday at Murman and Wilson Funeral Home.

Visitation is 10 a.m. to noon and the funeral is at noon.

The mom and dad have been staying with family, but spoke with the Red Cross on Sunday, who is going to get them a hotel while they figure out the next step.

A family member started a GoFundMe site which as already raised about $2,500 -
