Fund established for 18-month-old killed in crash

UNION COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

A fund has been established in honor of a baby who died in a crash in Union County on Dec. 11.

According to Illinois State Police, around 12:57 p.m., a blue 2012 Toyota Yaris was going west on IL 146 near Locust Grove Road, and a white 2012 Chevrolet Cruze was going east.

Police say the Yaris went into the eastbound lane on a hill crest for an unknown reason. The Cruze tried to move to the right, but was hit head-on by the Yaris.

The driver of the Yaris, 43-year-old Lenzie M. Johnson of Cape Girardeau, Mo. was taken to a Union County hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His passenger, 18-month-old Caiden Bo Ozment, was flown to a St. Louis hospital with life threatening injuries. Around 3 p.m., police say the child died.

The driver of the Cruze, a 66-year-old woman from Piedmont, Mo. was taken to a Cape Girardeau hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say both drivers were wearing seat belts and the child was in a safety seat.

A fund has been established in the name of Caiden Bo Ozment at Regions Bank in Missouri.
