Jefferson County among awarded preschool grant

ILLINOIS (KFVS) -

Illinois was awarded $80 million to put towards early childhood education.

Gov. Pat Quinn said the state will receive $20 million annually for four years through the Preschool Development Grants competition.

It's all a part of President Obama's plan to expand access to high-quality preschool to every child in America.

Illinois was one of 36 states that competed for these funds.

The school districts that received a portion of the award are:

    A walk to raise awareness about Myasthenia Gravis (MG) is set for Saturday, October 13 in Metropolis, Illinois at Washington Park.
