Cape Girardeau students participate in 'Code Day'

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Cape Girardeau Junior High School students got to experience the power of computer programming first hand.

The students participated in the "Hour of Code" on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 10.

They learned basic snap coding and used that knowledge to program and interact with a display in Washington, D.C.

About 75 students took part in the exercise.

Cole Knight talked about what it's like writing code.

"It's really fun," he said. "It's, It's really interesting how you know the people that made the first computer and Steve Jobs, Bill Gates coming up with these big companies from something that was thought to be nonexistent."

The Hour of Code is part of Computer Science Education Week.

Teachers say that the PCs supplied by the school help the students work on projects like this at school and at home.
