CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - We're wrapping up our 12 Treats of Christmas Series with a very simple, fun activity the whole family can take part in on Christmas Eve. Jennifer Berkbigler of Cape Girardeau shares her holiday favorite: Nutter Butter Santa Claus Cookies. All you need is six ingredients to make adorable cookies just perfect for leaving on a plate for Old St. Nick to enjoy when he comes down the chimney.
- White Almond Bark Chocolate
- 1 package Nutter Butter sandwich cookies
- Red colored sugar
- 32 white chocolate chips
- 64 miniature semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 32 Red-hot Candies
Melt white Almond Bark according to directions on the package.
Dip one end, or about one-fourth of each Nutter Butter cookie, five at a time in Almond Bark to make Santa's hat.
Dip the other end, approximately one-third of the cookie, in the Almond Bark to make Santa's beard and place each cookie on a parchment-lined cookie sheet.
Make Santa's hat by sprinkling red sugar on the smaller of the two dipped ends before the Almond Bark hardens. Press one white chocolate chip off center on the hat for the pom-pom.
Place three small dabs of Almond Bark for the eyes and nose. Then press one miniature semi-sweet chocolate chip for each eye, and a red hot for the nose.
Allow Almond Bark to cool and set completely before transferring to a plate or giving to your little elves to enjoy.
