How much of our annual income goes to gas?

Have you ever wondered just how much of our individual annual incomes in the United States goes right into a gas tank? Well wonder no more, thanks to new numbers from Bloomberg.

As Forbes reports, South Africa spends the highest percentage of their annual incomes on gas at 5.17 percent.

Cyprus, Mexico, Indonesia and Greece round out the top five and Canada comes in at number six.

In the 12th spot, which is last on this particular list, is the U.S. According to the numbers, Americans spend about 2.27 percent of their annual income on putting gas in vehicles.

Norway pays the most for gas, per gallon, out of any country in the world at $9.26, according to Forbes. However, the high income levels in that country mean paying for gas is only about .66 percent of annual incomes there.
