Cape Girardeau Co. receives 2014 MAC Achievement Award for Melaina's Magical Playland

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Cape Girardeau County received a 2014 MAC Achievement Award for their entry of Melaina's Magical Playland.

The Missouri Association of Counties held its Annual Conference and Expo on Nov. 23-25 at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Camden County, Mo.

Each year, in recognition of efforts to serve Missouri citizens the Missouri Association of Counties request entries be submitted for the annual MAC Achievement Awards.

The achievement award is based on county government and local entities creating a variety of programs to meet the needs of their citizens.

Cape Girardeau County submitted Melaina's Magical Playland project as an entry for the award.

That entry was selected to receive one of five MAC Achievement Awards.

The award was presented to the Cape Girardeau County Commissioners at the annual MAC Conference business meeting  held on Nov. 24.

The commissioners say Cape Girardeau County received the award in honor of Melaina Cunningham and all who contributed to make the all-accessible playground a success.
