Murphysboro man accused of robbing 2 stores on same day

MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS) -

A Murphysboro, Illinois man has been charged in connection with two robberies.

Adrian Lamont Harris, 42, was charged with aggravated robbery.

He was taken to the Jackson County Jail pending a court appearance on initial charges of aggravated robbery and an outstanding warrant from Clay County, Illinois for aggravated battery with a weapon.

According to Murphysboro police, on Saturday, Dec. 6 around 2:48 p.m. they were called to the Farm Fresh Store at 1904 Walnut Street in reference to a robbery that had just happened.

While responding, police say they were given a description of the suspect.

They say the suspect allegedly demanded money and inferred that he had a gun in the pocket of his hoodie.

Police say the suspect ran from the store going eastbound in the alley.

An officer saw someone matching the suspect description that was now wearing a black t-shirt, but appeared to have a hoodie tucked under his arm.

The person, Harris, was detained and positively identified as the robbery suspect.

Police say an undetermined amount of cash was recovered from the suspect.

After further investigation, police say Harris was charged with this robbery and a robbery of a Huck's store in the early hours of Saturday, Dec. 6.

In that incident, police say they were called to the Huck's Store at 1937 Walnut Street in Murphysboro, Ill. around 4:05 a.m. in reference to a robbery.

Police say the suspect demanded money and inferred that he had a gun in the pocket of his hoodie.

The suspect then allegedly took an undisclosed amount of cash before leaving the store.
