Pinckneyville, IL man facing meth charges after container found on railroad tracks

PINCKNEYVILLE, IL (KFVS) -

A Pinckneyville, Illinois man is facing meth making charges after a container was found on the railroad tracks.

Herman Sims, 34, was charged with aggravated methamphetamine production.

According to Pinckneyville Police Chief John Griffin, on Dec. 6 they received a report of a suspicious person on the railroad tracks south of town.

When police arrived, Chief Griffin said a container of anhydrous ammonia was found and a person was seen at the location but was not immediately found.

After further investigation that lead to the Main Street Inn in Pinckneyville, police say a search of the room turned up numerous meth making materials, some of them containing meth.

Sims was taken to the Perry County Jail.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.

The Illinois State Police Meth Team was called in to dispose of the anhydrous ammonia.
