Police: Mt. Vernon man's parole revoked due to gun, home invasion charges

MOUNT VERNON, IL (KFVS) -

A Mount Vernon, Illinois man is facing multiple charges resulting in his parole being revoked.

Darrain Bowdry, 39, was charged with home invasion, domestic battery, interfering with the report of domestic violence and possession of cannabis.

According to Mt. Vernon police, on Dec. 5 around 10:51 a.m., they responded to the 300 block of Casey for a disturbance.

After further investigation, they say Bowdry was taken into custody.

At the time of his arrest, police say Bowdry was on parole through the Illinois Department of Corrections. They say after his arrest, they assisted an IDOC agent with a search of his home.

Bowdry was also charged with possession of a stolen gun and possession of a gun by a felon.

As a result of these charges, Bowdry's parole was revoked and he will return to the IDOC.

According to police, the arrest was part of an ongoing investigation between the Mt. Vernon Police Department and United States Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and firearms regarding weapons offenses in the Mt. Vernon area.
