CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - We continue the 12 Treats of Christmas with Clara Essner of Kelso, Missouri. Clara's Oreo Bon-Bons are a #7 on the list and a big hit among the members of her family. They're easy to make and fun to decorate.
- 1 package Original or Golden Oreo's (crushed)
- 1 package (8 oz.) Cream Cheese (softened)
- Splash of Vanilla Extract
- 1 package Chocolate and/or Vanilla Almond Bark
Crush Original or Golden Oreo's (do not use Double Stuffed) using a rolling pin or blender.
Cream the Cream Cheese until fluffy. Add crushed Oreo's and mix together well. Add splash of vanilla.
Line 2 cookie sheets with waxed or parchment paper. Using scoop or large spoon, form balls of the mixture and place on the cookie sheets, 1 inch apart.
Refrigerate bon-bons until hardened.
Melt almond bark either over double boiler, hot plate, or in microwave stirring after each 30 seconds of microwaving.
Dip the Oreo balls into the chocolate, evenly coating and placing each back on the lined cookie sheets.
Garnish as desired with colored sprinkles, sugars, frosting, cocoa, powdered sugar, finely chopped nuts or crushed peppermint. Allow the Oreo bon-bons to set before enjoying!
