The U.S. Secretary of Defense said hostages have been killed by terrorists during a rescue mission in Yemen.

The Associated Press reports the United States will keep about 1,000 more troops in Afghanistan than planned.

State Police say a woman has died after her car collided with a tractor trailer in Massac County, Illinois.
