2 women facing charges for taking items from Murphysboro Walmart

Two women are facing charges after allegedly taking merchandise from the Murphysboro Walmart without paying on Wednesday, Dec. 3

According to Murphysboro police, workers saw 27-year-old Whitney S. Cole of Madison, Illinois and 25-year-old Ashley M. Wilson of Belleville go through the self-checkout without paying for more than $600 worth of items.

Cole and Wilson were later arrested in Carbondale on the charge of felony retail theft over $300. Wilson was also charged with obstructing identification.

Officials say all the stolen merchandise was recovered from the vehicle.

Both were taken to the Jackson County Jail pending a court appearance.
