JACKSON, MO (KFVS) -

Crossroads Church in Jackson, Missouri held a dress rehearsal on Thursday evening for its 3rd annual Christmas light show.

It is a performance that features 35,000 lights flashing along with holiday themed music.

"This year we're actually lighting all the way from one gym wall all the way over to the other with some of our effects," Senior pastor Brian Anderson said. "It's about 120 feet worth of lights."

However, the show is much different from those homeowners that deck out their houses with lights and time it to Christmas songs.

Anderson said this is a much longer performance that people can comfortably watch inside.

It also features original music and a theatrical performance.

"The script is about a group of surfers who are trying to keep their land," Anderson said. "And about the evil property developers trying to take it away from them."

According to the church, it is the area's only indoor light show.

"Totally different as far as we know," Andy Cutrell said. "There's probably awesome shows happening in the country, just not like this."

Some of the characters in the performance said they can't wait to see the audience's reaction.

"This has got me pumped up for Christmas," Lindsey Roberts said.

"I am also excited to see everything come together," Trevor Roberts said. "It's going to be awesome."

Anderson said the performance also works in a special way to remind people about the reason for the season.

"It is an amazing thing to watch how god can use something sometimes as silly and certainly as humble as something we've produced ourselves in order to reach out to people with his love and his grace," Anderson said.

Performances will be Saturday, Dec. 5, Sunday, Dec. 6, Saturday, Dec. 13, and Sunday, Dec. 14 at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. each night. Admission is free.

The church is located at 4400 East Jackson Blvd. in Jackson. Turn on Sappington Drive from East Jackson Blvd.
