BENTON, IL (KFVS) -

Two men were arrested in connection with an armed robbery in Benton, Illinois on Monday, Dec. 1.

Anthony McKee, 25, of Will County, and Patrick Novak, 17, of Cook County, were charged with armed robbery. They are both being held at the Pemiscot County Justice Center on $500,000 bond.

According to the Benton Police Department, they were dispatched around 11 p.m. to a report of an armed robbery at the Lake Zone Shell Station on State Highway 37.

Police say the clerks that were on duty reported that two men entered the store. One of the suspects allegedly had a gun and demanded money from the clerk as the second suspect allegedly helped with taking cash and other merchandise from the store.

On the morning of Dec. 2, police say they learned two male suspects were being detained at the Pemiscot County Justice Center stemming from a separate arrest by the Hayti Police Department earlier that morning.

Benton police say further investigation into the gas station robbery led to the arrest of McKee and Novak.
