West Frankfort woman charged with robbery, residential burglary

WEST FRANKFORT, IL (KFVS) -

A West Frankfort woman has been charged with robbery and residential burglary following an investigation by local police.

According to the West Frankfort Police Department, 28-year-old Whitney Mansfield was arrested Tuesday, Dec. 2 in connection with a incident that happened at a home in the 1400 block of East Oak Street on Nov. 22.

A 70-year-old woman called police saying she went into her home and found someone inside. The woman confronted the suspect and a struggle started. 

The victim hit the suspect several times in the face and the suspect then fled the scene on foot with some items from the home.

A description was given and police say information and evidence gained at the scene led detectives to Mansfield who lived nearby the victim. 

According to officials, evidence linking Mansfield to the crime was recovered.

She was charged with robbery and residential burglary and is currently being held at the Franklin County Jail.
