SIUC goes to the dogs before finals to provide stress relief for students

. .
CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

The Southern Illinois University Carbondale will be providing students a chance to relieve stress ahead of finals.

Morris Library is hosting "Dawgs Meet Dogs" from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Dec. 4 and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 5.

The event will be on the lawn near the north entrance to the library, or in the first floor Browsing Room in case of inclement weather.

The service/therapy dogs are from Supporting Independence Through Teamwork Service Dogs in Ava, Ill.

The university says the service dogs are highly trained for public situations.

According to SIUC, a similar event at the library near the end of the spring semester drew more than 300 people.

For more information, you can contact Howard Carter, associate dean for support services at Morris Library, at 618-453-2522 or by email at hcarter@lib.siu.edu.
