Neelyville, MO man accused of meth possession, hostility toward officers


A Neelyville, Missouri man is accused of meth possession and becoming hostile towards officers during a traffic stop.

Demario Hendrix, 26, was charged with unlawful use-exhibiting a weapon, resisting arrest and possession of controlled substance.

According to Police Chief Bill Joe Stanfield, on Saturday night, two officers conducted a traffic stop on Factory Drive.

He says a man got out of the vehicle and became hostile towards the officers.

The man was later identified as Hendrix.

Chief Stanfield said Hendrix reached behind his back and officers saw him remove a gun from his backside.

Officers then ran toward Hendrix and knocked the gun from his hands, disarming him. They say Hendrix they resisted arrest by fighting with them.

According to Chief Stanfield, officers were able to subdue Hendrix and place him in hand restraints.

Officers say Hendrix had a substantial amount of purported meth.

Police filed a report with the Pemiscot County Prosecuting Attorney and a warrant was issued for Hendrix.

He is currently in the Pemiscot County Jail with no bond.
