BUTLER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Two men are now facing murder charges in connection with the death of a man that was shot and found in the Black River in Poplar Bluff on October 22.

Online documents show Curtis L. Walker of Moberly, Missouri and Bryce Davis of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, have both been charged with second degree murder and armed criminal action.

Casey Marler of Williamsville, Missouri has been charged with tampering with a motor vehicle to the first degree in connection with the incident.

Davis has a counsel status hearing scheduled on December 8 at the Butler County Courthouse.

Marler has an arraignment schedule for December 1 at the Butler County Courthouse.

There is no word on when Walker is scheduled for court next. Both Davis and Walker have a bond of 250,000.

The investigation began after a fisherman discovered the body of 48-year-old Salvador Ruiz Ramirez along the southern banks of the Black River on Wednesday, Oct. 22.

According to Sheriff Mark Dobbs, Curtis Walker and Casey Marler were arrested in Wright County after a high speed chase that started near Hartsville.

"We believe he died of a gunshot wound," said Dobbs in Oct. "It appears the crime revolved around the drug trade."

Wright County deputies and the Missouri State Highway Patrol were able to catch up to them after the suspects pulled into a home in the rural area of the county.
