Johnston City man accused stealing guns from Murphysboro home

An Illinois man was taken into custody overnight in connection to stealing guns and other items from a home.

On November 28 at 8:21 a.m. Officers from the Murphysboro Police Department took a complaint of a burglary on Suburban Drive.

Officers say guns and other items were stolen.

On November 30, shortly after 2 a.m. officers found a suspect, Nicholas A. Allgaier, 23, of Johnston City, Illinois in the 300 Block of Walnut Street in Murphysboro.

Allgaier was taken into custody for possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm with no valid FOID Card.

The charges are a result of the on-going investigation into multiple burglaries on Murphysboro's north side.

Police say more charges are pending.

The case was investigated by the Murphysboro Police Department and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office.
