LILBOURN, MO (KFVS) - The New Madrid County Sheriffs Office says multiple agencies are investigating after several people were shot overnight in north Lilbourn, Missouri.

It happened around 1:30 am. on Saturday.

Authorities say several were shot at the club Da Hole, and six were injured.

The sheriff's office says up to five people were shot.

Those injured were treated at area hospitals. There is no word on their condition.

Authorities say there is no cause of the shooting so far.

Heartland News talked to residents around Da Hole club in Lilbourn. Most people said they woke up to shots fired and heard screams.

Ernest McFerren says he was in his home just behind the club. He awoke to shots fired and people screaming.

He looked outside and saw a lot of people panicking and running away.

"Real scary, in this small community. My brother and I, we were home alone and it was real scary," said McFerren.

Shortly thereafter, he saw police and helicopters on scene.

McFerren is also a city council member in Lilbourn. He says they plan on talking about this in one of their meetings coming up and will try to come up with a way to stop this from happening again.

McFerren says this club has had similar shootings before.

'Anymore, it's just not safe to go to clubs," McFerren said. "This is just too close to home."

McFerren is concerned for his brother, the neighbors and himself that the suspect involved may still be on the loose.

No suspects have been identified, according to the sheriff's office.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control, New Madrid PD, Gideon PD and the Sikeston DPS are investigating.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the New Madrid Co. Sheriff's Office at 573-748-2516 or the MO State Highway Patrol at 573-840-9500.
