Fire at Old Navy in Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

The Cape Girardeau, Missouri Fire Department was called to the Old Navy store on William street about 1 a.m. on Saturday morning. 

They had a report of a "popping noise" and the smell of smoke in the Old Navy store located in West Park Mall. 

All four fire stations responded.

Firefighters say there was a fire in one of the electrical panel boxes with flames showing. 

The fire was quickly extinguished with dry chemical extinguishers. 

Other crews were directed to keep the smoke from reaching the mall. 

Crews set-up electric exhaust fans and prevented the smoke from extending into the common area of the Mall. 

Fire and smoke were confined to the area of origin and the store itself. 

Ameren UE arrived on scene and secured the utilities. 

No injuries were reported. Employees said the store was open for business on Saturday morning.

    Health officials plan to give updates Kentucky's Hepatitis A outbreak, including initiatives to slow it.

    In the midst of the largest hepatitis A outbreak in Kentucky's history, health officials are urging anyone who lives in a county where cases have been confirmed to get vaccinated.

    A Harrisburg man was found guilty of multiple charges on Thursday, July 19. 47-year-old Jerry D. Leach was found guilty of a Class 4 felony charge of Aggravated Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer and a Class A misdemeanor charge of Driving While Driver's License is Suspended.
