Poplar Bluff schools superintendent announces resignation

POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) -

The superintendent of Poplar Bluff schools will resign at the end of his contract in 2016.

Chris Hon informed the school board he will be resigning at the end of his two-year contract with the school in 2016.

His contract ends June 30, 2016. Hon promised to work diligently to complete the buildings plan.

Hon released the following statement on Monday, Nov. 24.

"I know everyone is excited about the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday and the opportunity to relax and spend some quality time with their families. I know I am.

I informed the Board last night that I would be resigning at the end of my two-year contract, which would be June 30, 2016. This amounts to about 19 months. During this time I will work diligently to complete the buildings plan and progress we are making in our school district. I have enjoyed my years of service to the Poplar Bluff R-I Board of Education and the district. I greatly appreciate the opportunity given to me by the Board in 2010 to be superintendent for such a great staff and community. Moving to this community in 1999 was the best decision for my family and me."
