No signs of foul play after woman's body found by hunters in Carter Co.

CARTER COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

An autopsy was held on Tuesday, Nov. 25 for a partially decomposed woman's body that was found by hunters.

The body was found on Sunday, Nov. 23, according to the Carter County Sheriff Richard Stephens.

He said the sheriff's office responded to the call on Sunday around 4:03 p.m.

Officers were dispatched to a wooded area east of McLain's Forrest Products, along State Highway 60.

According to Sheriff Stephens, the callers reported a hunter finding body in a heavily wooded area.

Sheriff Stephens said they do not know the identification of the body, the woman's age or the cause of death at this time.

According to Sheriff Stephens, the autopsy showed no signs of trauma or foul play.

As of Tuesday, he said there's still no identification.

The toxicology report is pending.

Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control are also investigating.
