Marion man facing felony charges after being stopped in stolen vehicle

ENERGY, IL (KFVS) -

A Marion man is facing several charges after being arrested during a traffic stop involving a stolen vehicle on Saturday, Nov. 22, according to the Energy Police Department.

Police say an officer stopped 42-year-old Jason L. Morgan just before 3 a.m. for improper lane use and then arrested him for driving while license revoked.

A search of the vehicle uncovered two shotguns in the trunk of the car.

Morgan was taken to the Williamson County Jail and charged with possession of firearms by a felon, felony possession of firearms without requisite FOID and also traffic charges.

That same morning, the Jonesboro Police Department took a report of the vehicle Morgan was stopped in and the two shotguns found in the trunk being stolen sometime Friday night. When officials entered the vehicle as stolen, they found that it had already been impounded by Energy police.

Based on that information, a request for additional charges of possession of stolen vehicle and possession of stolen firearms has been forwarded to the Williamson County State's Attorney's Office.
