Couple accused of hiding drugs in fake batteries

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

Paducah, Kentucky police say two people are facing charges after officers found drugs hidden in fake batteries.

Christopher Ryan Miller, 31, of Paducah faces charges of trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and giving an officer a false name or address and on warrants charging him with failing to appear in Warren County, KY, court on a charge of driving under the influence and probation/parole violation.

Meagan L. Wagoner, 29, of Paducah faces charges of trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

Sgt. Steve Smith said investigators were following up on a tip that illegal drugs were being sold from the home in the 1200 block of North 12th Street.

When officers arrived, they saw a man and a woman getting into a car parked in front of the home. The officers asked for identification and the man provided a false name and Social Security number.

An officer identified the man as Christopher Ryan Miller.

A K9 searched the vehicle, and the dog was alerted to the presence of illegal drugs in the front seat area.

Officers found only a flashlight.

The officer searched the flashlight and discovered the batteries were fake.

They actually were containers with lids. Inside one, the officer found five small plastic bags containing methamphetamine and Hydrocodone pills.

Miller and Meagan L. Wagoner booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail.

A search warrant was obtained for their home, and officers found drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine and marijuana inside.

Police say additional charges are pending.
