CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

People from around the southeast Missouri area came out to support others and get support for a loved one who died by suicide.

Saturday is International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day.

Every year, survivors of suicide loss gather together around the world to offer healing and to connect with others who have had similar experiences.

People gathered Saturday at the public library in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and shared their stories, asked questions and gave support with others.

On hand were speakers, a video, and a candlelight ceremony.

According to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, someone dies by suicide every 40 seconds in the world; and every 41 seconds there is someone left to make sense of it.
