Sikeston man, woman face drug charges

SIKESTON, MO (KFVS) -

The Scott County sheriff's office says a Sikeston, Missouri man and woman were taken into custody after a drug investigation.

James M. Woods, 59, and Aleash K. Gonzalez, 33, were both charged with possession of a controlled substance of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sheriff Rick Walter says enough information was gathered Friday to obtain a search warrant at the home on Cypress St. in Sikeston.

The sheriff says that Woods was in the process of using methamphetamine, and tried to dispose of the drug and a pipe but was stopped by a deputy.

Woods was also found to be in possession of three small bags with a crystal substance believed to be methamphetamine.

Marijuana and drug paraphernalia was found after a search of a bedroom. The sheriff said it belonged to Gonzalez.

The sheriff says there were three children inside the home at the time of the search, that had access to the drugs and paraphernalia.

Woods and Gonzalez were booked into the Scott County Jail.

Bond has been set by the court for Woods at $50,000 cash or surety.

Bond for Gonzalez has been set by the court at $1,000 cash or surety.
