Man killed by semi truck along I-64 in Jefferson Co., IL

JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

A man was hit and killed by a semi truck along Interstate 64 in Jefferson County, Illinois early Thursday morning, according to Illinois State Police.

Police say a 34-year-old man from Centralia was walking towards Mount Vernon after leaving his stalled vehicle on the side of the interstate around mile marker 71 around 4 a.m.

The driver of the semi truck, a 52-year-old man from Indiana, was moving lanes when the truck hit the man who was in the road, according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation into the crash in ongoing.
