MURPHYSBORO, IL (KFVS) - Illinois is opening up more than 100 warming centers throughout the state.

They will be open during certain hours.

These centers are located at the Departments of Human Services offices throughout Illinois.

They're open Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Not all centers have a designated warming location, some are lobbies, allowing anyone to come sit down and take a break from the cold weather.

Administrators at the Murphysboro office say although it's not a 24 hour service, there are other options.

"We have several homeless shelters," local office administrator Angela Imhoff said. "There's a couple in Carbondale, we have the senior citizen center, and there are several places in the local towns that they can go."

Imhoff states it hasn't been too busy, but says the office should see a steady flow of people that come in when there is snow and ice on the ground.
