Cardinals Miller traded for Braves Heyward

ST. LOUIS (KFVS) - The St. Louis Cardinals have acquired Atlanta Braves outfielder Jason Heyward and pitcher Jordan Walden for pitcher Shelby Miller and pitcher Tyrell Jenkins.

Heyward, 25, is a two-time National League Gold Glove Award winner, according to the St. Louis Cardinals website.

He posted a .262 career batting mark with 84 home runs and 292 RBIs. He has had 63 stolen bases since debuting with the Braves in 2010, when he finished second to the Giants' Buster Posey in the National League Rookie of the Year balloting. 

The left-handed-hitting Heyward batted .271 this past season with 11 homers and 58 RBIs. He stole 20 bases and finished as a finalist to Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina in the Platinum Glove voting for the best defensive player in the National League.
