SCOTT CITY, MO (KFVS) -

Scott City has only one Boy Scout, so other groups helped him to distribute and collect food items on Saturday.

"Scouting for Food" bags filled with canned goods and other items in Scott City were gathered up.

The bags were distributed last week as part of a nationwide effort to help food pantries, and those who are in need.

Over 4,200 items including canned goods was collected.

Cash donations were also collected.

All food and donations will go to the Scott City Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry.

Churches, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts helped out.

Together they organized all the food items and sent them to the local food pantry.

Volunteers said there is this is a great need to help those in need throughout the community during the winter season. They say it's because the pantry was low on food items.
