Illinois woman accused of getting prescriptions from 8 different docs

PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

Police say an Illinois woman was arrested after it was discovered she received prescriptions from eight different physicians at the same time.

Barbara Zimmerman, 63, of Jonesboro, Illinois was arrested on indictments charging her with two counts of attempting to or obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, false statement or forgery.

According to Paducah Police, Zimmerman was arrested Wednesday afternoon when she came to the police department to speak with Det. John Tolliver, the Paducah Police Department's prescription drug investigator.

According to a news release, Tolliver said he received information that Zimmerman was obtaining controlled substances improperly and began an investigation.

During the investigation, Tolliver learned that Zimmerman had obtained prescriptions from eight different physicians and had those prescriptions, filled at six different pharmacies.

On one day, Tolliver said, Zimmerman visited two different physicians after a reported fall and got prescriptions for the painkiller Hydrocodone from both.

Tolliver presented his case to a McCracken County grand jury, which returned the indictments.

She was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
