BLODGETT, MO (KFVS) -

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter says a Blodgett, Missouri woman is facing charges stemming from doctor shopping for pain pills.

Diana Breedlove, 51, was charged with four counts of attempting to obtain a controlled substance.

According to the sheriff's office, authorities began to investigate Breedlove after learning that she was getting pain medication from a number of doctors.

The sheriff says that Breedlove filled out paperwork saying she was out of her pain medication, and that she was not receiving the pills from any other health care provider.

According to the sheriff's office, Breedlove used different pharmacies to get 1062 pain pills, with an approximate street value $4,248. Walter says she paid in cash in an attempt to avoid being caught.

Walter says the State of Missouri does not have a monitoring program in place, so investigators located the records by contacting different pharmacies in the area.

Authorities asked the pharmacies to research her past prescription filling history.

Sheriff Walter believes it is likely that Breedlove could have made more purchases from the pharmacies.

She was taken to o in the Scott County Jail. Bond was set by the court at $2,500 cash or surety.
