DEXTER, MO (KFVS) -

Dexter Police and Stoddard County sheriff's deputies were at Dexter schools on Wednesday afternoon after they say some sort of threat was made.

Stoddard County Sheriff Carl Hefner says Stacy Griffin, 45, made some threats stemming from a child custody issue.

Her child was taken from her home some time ago and she wanted her child back.

Sheriff Hefner says after Griffin made the threat and indicated she had a gun, law enforcement locked down all the schools in Dexter along with the courthouse until she was taken into custody.

She was in custody within an hour after the threat was made.

Griffin is facing a charge of possession of a controlled substance, but could face more charges.

She did not have a gun when she was taken into custody.

Police say they were on guard at the schools from 2 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. as a result of the threat to make sure everything was safe. They said no one was hurt.
